Hello every one I am new to the TRF and in the process of buying a bike, OMG what a mine field !!! so many to choose from.
Having said all that I kinda like the ttr 600 as Im looking for an all round bike for commuting 20 mls a day and also some week long trips with lads which is mainly on roads a/b,s not much M way but in all that mix Green Lanes with my new TRF buddys.
Or maybe a drz 400s.
My overal spec is 6ft 15/16 stone depends on how much beer I drink so the big question is am I barking up the wrong trees with the afore mentioned bikes. :?

having owned and green laned with an xr650 i moved onto a drz for a short while ( some bugger stole it ) the drz was more than capable of a 40 mile round trip to work and back and laning at the weekend. its a very low maintenance bike spare parts no probs, more than capable of pulling you around, i think the ttr 600 might tire you to much on the green lanes takes the pleasure out of a days riding , thats my bit said, enjoy what ever you do purchase Archie. :)

ok dokey if your looking at bigger milage runs i would plump for the tt600 i once owned a tt600 belgarda 95 model imported from italy paid about £ 1400 low milage not used off road , the benefits of the tt600 is its a lot less likley to have been off roaded unlike the drz which is very popular with off roaders, carrying luggage i have no experience off but would have thought your on the right track with the yam, as for taking the yam off road its an adventure go at your own pace and enjoy , Archie :)

DRZ400S all the way..

although gets a bit sore on the old rear after miles in the saddle. I commuted mine to work every day for over a year, 40 miles each way and found it strangled my dangley bits towards the end of the journey..lol Having said that, I loved it on the commute and still love it to now, although spend more time throwing it around fields and green lanes.

Love it ta bits (PS 6ft" 2 and 18 St) and it pulls me around no probz...

They have a small rack on the back which I have loaded up with camping gear a few time, but there are not any direct bolt on pannier set-ups etc. But wouldn't be hard to make some thing . Standard tank is 13l and will see about 100miles depending on how ham fisted you are, again no real other larger tanks about.
